Episode 47: Sakura and the Mysterious Transfer Student

"Sakura, I am bored," sighed Kero. Sakura explains to Kero that he shouldn't be complaining because they had a lot of time to play this summer because all of the Clow Cards had been captured. Sakura starts writing back to Ms. Mizuki who is away on an overseas program. She then lets out a huge "HOEH!!!" because she forgot to do her homework that was left in her school bag. Then she also remembers that she has to wake up early tomorrow in order to complete the class chores. During all of this an unknown boy wearing ceremonial robes stands outside of the Kinomoto residence.
Sakura wakes up early and quickly eats breakfast. She skates out of the house, around the corner, and sees Yukito. He explains that he went out early to buy breakfast because no matter how much he eats he still feels hungry. Unfortunately, shortly after listening to Yukito, Sakura ends the conversation because she has to leave in order to complete the class chores before school begins. Yukito understands and swiftly tosses her a candy as she starts to skate away.
Sakura slides open the door to classroom 5-2 and says "ohaiyou" but remembers that no one has shown up yet. Sakura sings while walking to her desk. She finally realizes Syaoran's loud coughing noises that indicate he is in the room. At this realization she goes red in the ears. As they walk in the hallway together Sakura asks Syaoran when he will be returning to Hong Kong. He explains to her that he must return soon because he needs to inform his mother that a new master has been chosen for the Clow Cards.
Soon after, students begin to pile into the classroom. Because of Ms. Mizuki's absence Mr. Terada is their homeroom teacher. The students all take their seats and Mr. Terada asks them all if they have done their summer vacation homework. He then introduces a new student, Eriol Hiiragizawa. During recess Sakura continues writing back to Ms. Mizuki. She reads what she is writing aloud. Sakura mentions that it doesn't feel like she is meeting Eriol for the first time. Eriol then agrees with her. With this response Sakura is startled because she hadn't realize that Eriol was standing so nearby.
Tomoyo and Syaoran watch this situation from a distance. Then Sakura, Syaoran, and Tomoyo all walk home from school together. During this walk Syaoran announces that he will NOT be returning to Hong Kong. Because of this good news Sakura buys popsicles for everyone. However, Touya shows up unexpectedly and steals Sakura's popsicle from her. Soon after, Yukito offers to buy her a new one. Then while making her first appearance Nakuru steals the stolen popsicle! It begins to rain.
When Sakura returns home she tells Kero about Eriol. They wonder why it is now raining because it had been sunny all day. A strange glow appears from the drawer where the Clow Book is kept. Sakura picks up the Clow Book and it illuminates as she hears Clow's voice. When she looks down at the book she notices that it is now pink with stars and reads "SAKURA" across the top. Wondering why this has happened Sakura and Kero listen to the weather report and discover that this is no ordinary rainfall.
Sakura, Tomoyo, and Kero go to Penguin Park where the rain gathers into massive amounts of water and attacks them. Kero tells her to stop running around and use some magic, but there is one slight problem-- the incantation does not agree with her new Star Key...
